July 27, 1953

With the signing of the Korean War Armistice Agreement in Panmunjom on July 27, 1953, the official combat missions of the Canadian Armed Forces effectively came to an end. Canada, which saw over 26,000 personnel serve and 516 lose their lives during the war, subsequently designated July 27 as "Korean War Veterans Day" to honor the sacrifices of its veterans and the enduring friendship between Korea and Canada.

July 29, 2025

On July 29, 2025, Natural Resources Canada and the Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials (KIMM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at the eco-friendly recovery of critical resources and the establishment of supply chains. Through this agreement, the two organizations agreed to actively promote joint research and the exchange of professionals, with a primary focus on ammonia processing and battery recycling technologies.

August 1 – August 2, 2023

On August 1, 2023, the Korea Disaster Relief Team (KDRT), which had spent a month conducting relief operations at the site of the Quebec wildfires in Canada, completed its mission and began its journey home the following day on August 2. Just prior to their departure, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau personally visited the South Korean Air Force transport aircraft to express his gratitude. This stands as a symbolic event demonstrating a new form of solidarity through disaster relief, 70 years after the Korean War.
