Simon Kim

Based in Richmond Hill, Ontario, visual artist Simon Kim (Kil Soo Kim) might at first glance appear to speak a familiar painterly language. Look closer, however, and you will discover a distinct artistic fragrance and a profound inner resonance within his work. Let us explore how his life and art—as a Korean-Canadian and a longtime art educator—harmoniously intertwine to radiate an original brilliance.

The most compelling reason his work commands attention lies in his bold, uninhibited experimentation with materials and the sensory expression it yields. Rather than confining himself to a specific medium or technique, Kim moves freely across them. He fearlessly unites charcoal, watercolor, oil paint, and diverse mixed media.
