Simon Fraser University Pipe Band Claims World Championship Title

The Simon Fraser University Pipe Band has once again reached the pinnacle of competitive piping, winning the Grade 1 title at the prestigious World Pipe Band Championships held in Glasgow, Scotland. This marks a triumphant return to the top for the Canadian ensemble, securing their seventh world championship and their first since 2010.

The competition saw over 200 bands, featuring thousands of performers from 14 countries, vying for the ultimate prize. The Simon Fraser University Pipe Band, led by Pipe Major Alan Bevan, delivered a performance that was recognized for its excellence by the organizers, Glasgow Life. This victory is particularly notable as it is the first time in 17 years that a band from outside the United Kingdom has claimed the world title.

Band members described the win as an incredible achievement, culminating years of dedicated practice and behind-the-scenes organization.
