Suspect in Apartment Office Arson Dies, Death Toll Rises to Five

A 71-year-old man, identified by the surname Ryu, has died in hospital from burn injuries sustained during an arson incident at an apartment management office in Gyeongsan, Gyeongsangbuk-do. Ryu had been under investigation for allegedly setting fire to the office on May 23rd. The blaze tragically claimed the lives of four individuals, including residents and office staff, and injured three others. Ryu himself sustained burns and had been receiving treatment. Police had been investigating the motive, with initial findings suggesting the fire was set in a fit of rage following an argument at the management office on the day of the incident. With the suspect's death, the case will be closed due to the extinguishment of penal action.
