Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame Welcomes New Inductees

The Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame has announced its 2026 class of inductees, celebrating significant contributions to the sport in Canada. The group includes former NBA player Jamaal Magloire, who had a distinguished 12-season career and was the first Canadian to play for the Toronto Raptors. Magloire also served as an assistant coach for the Raptors during their 2019 championship season and is currently involved with the Scarborough Shooting Stars in the Canadian Elite Basketball League.

Joining Magloire in this year's induction is Dave Smart, the former head coach of the Carleton Ravens men's basketball team. Under Smart's leadership, the Ravens established a dynasty, securing an impressive 13 U Sports championships. His coaching tenure is recognized for transforming the program into a national powerhouse.

Miranda Ayim, a former captain of Canada's senior women's national team, is also among the honorees. Ayim had the distinction of being a co-flag-bearer for Canada at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, sharing the honour with rugby sevens player Nathan Hirayama.

The full class of 2026 comprises ten individuals, including players Michael Meeks, Anna Stammberger, Dan Meagher, and Teresa Kleindienst. The class also recognizes the achievements of coaches Peter (Doc) Ryan and Janice Deakin, as well as builder Dr. Andrew Pipe. The induction ceremony is scheduled to take place in St. Stephen, New Brunswick.
